Amara Woodland Croft, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

  Unique all inclusive experience

The trip starts in Fort William…………………

We take the scenic coastal route west over Moidart and head back up towards Mallaig. After a night wild camping, we head on the ferry over to the Island of Skye where we take in the sights up to Portree, the capital of the Island, for a wander round. A drive over the island takes us to visit the Famous Talisker distillery and another wild camp………….

From Skye, we head over the high pass of the cattle in time to watch the sun set over Skye and light a fire for supper above Applecross. We always hear the call of the stags and being so high, we can sleep under tarps under the stars as the midges don't like living this high up…………

Tuesday, we head down to Applecross, and a visit to Sheildaig, a beautiful little village, and drive along the majestic Torridon Glen and up to Loch Maree, where we set up camp along the side of this beautiful and Historic Loch (Lake). The next morning, we walk the Beinne Eighe trail (about 4 hours) and then head to Gairloch for coffee and cake at the mountain coffee shop and a look in their fabulous bookshop. A great way to chill out.

Here we spend two nights at the local camp site, on the dunes by the oceans shore. Hot showers and baths!!! And a fabulous restaurant where we book a table and enjoy the views and great food. If you haven’t been here, the site sits along a beautiful sandy beach with wild grassy dunes and looks over the bay……….

Whale watching on a boat trip the following morning and a night at Badachro pub to end the day. The following day sees us head up this magnificent coast to Ullapool, where everyone can have a meander round the town and we can sit and enjoy fish and chips while soaking up the coastal atmosphere. Then on to Loch Assynt for an eerie night on the haunted loch. We love it here. It is beautiful and this place has a peaceful feel to it but is definitely haunted……….. cameras don’t lie and phtographs often show orbs on the water and high in the sky…….nothing to fear though as the ghosts are friendly and gentle…….just like this peaceful place……..

The next day, Lochinver, for a taste of their famous pies, and over Sutherland, to Bonar Bridge, and on to inverness to end the trip.

A lot to do along the way such as heritage sites and some beautiful views. We visit Applecross heritage centre, Beinn Aighe visitor centre, Corrieshallock Gorge, Talisker Distilery on skye, Lochcarron weavers, Smithy Heritage centre, the countryside centre at Torridon………

……….and a chance to photograph Eilean Donan Castle as we pass right by it.

There are other bits of the week that are also offered such as free bushcraft training in fire lighting, natural string making, simple carving and setting up shelters. We want everyone to come, feel comfortable, enjoy the company of likeminded people and take away memories that will stay with them forever………this really is a chance of a life time trip and we will do our very best to make it as special as possible for everyone.
